It is with profound sadness that we bid farewell to Jiggly Caliente, the vibrant and trailblazing Filipino drag queen, actress, and advocate, who passed away on April 27, 2025, at the age of 44. Her family announced her peaceful passing following complications from a severe infection that led to the amputation of her right leg just days prior.
A Star is Born
Born on November 29, 1980, in San Pedro, Laguna, Philippines, Jiggly moved to the United States in 1991 and settled in Sunnyside, Queens, New York City. Her drag persona was inspired by the Pokémon character Jigglypuff, and she initially performed under the name Jiggly Puff before adopting the moniker Jiggly Caliente.
Jiggly first gained national attention as a contestant on Season 4 of RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2012, where she showcased her charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent. She returned to the competition in 2021 for RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 6, further solidifying her place in the Drag Race legacy.
Beyond the Stage
Beyond her appearances on Drag Race, Jiggly made significant contributions to the entertainment industry and the LGBTQ+ community. She portrayed Veronica Ferocity on the acclaimed FX series Pose, bringing depth and authenticity to her role. Her acting credits also include appearances on Search Party and Saturday Night Live.
In 2016, Jiggly publicly came out as transgender, becoming a visible and empowering figure for many. She co-hosted Translation, the first talk show on a major network hosted by an all-trans cast, and served as a judge on Drag Race Philippines from 2022 until her passing.
